Niccolo Mencacci, MD, PhD

Northwestern University

Dr Mencacci received his medical degree (2006) and completed his residency in Neurology (2012) at the University of Milan, Italy. He then obtained his PhD working in the Department of Molecular Neuroscience at University College London in the UK (2016). During these years he identified several novel genetic causes of movement disorders, including Parkinson disease, dystonia and chorea.

Subsequently, he joined Northwestern University in Chicago, where he is currently conducting his research and conducting his clinical practice. Combining genetics and a range of in vivo and in vitro models of movement disorders, Dr Mencacci is a clinician scientist investigating the molecular pathophysiological mechanisms underlying movement disorders.
