Lou Blanpain, BA

Emory University

Lou Blanpain is an MD-PhD student at Emory University, in Drs. Singer and Willie’s labs. His research focuses on understanding brain circuits involved in memory and emotion, as well as non-invasive means of modulating such circuits. Specifically, he works with treatment-resistant epileptic patients who, for clinical reasons, temporarily undergo intracranial recordings, offering a unique opportunity to shed light on the workings of said circuits. As a physician-scientist, he plans on researching the circuit-basis of given brain disorders, and how to develop treatment strategies targeted at modulating aberrant brain activity in such disorders.
