Jeffrey Savas received a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He received his Ph.D. from New York University School and performed his postdoctoral training at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla. The goal of our research in the Laboratory of Synaptic Proteostasis is to determine how protein mishandling contributes to synaptic dysfunction and aging. The lab is currently working to: (1) develop new tools to anatomize specific synaptic proteomes, (2) determine the relationship between acoustic overstimulation and altered cochlear proteostasis and, (3) identify proteins with hampered degradation dynamics during neurodegeneration.
