Cassie Mitchell, PhD

Dr. Cassie S. Mitchell lives by the motto “Never, never, never give up.” As a wheelchair-bound quadriplegic and cancer patient, Mitchell has a passion to leverage personal and scientific research experiences to positively impact lives. Mitchell is an assistant professor in Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University. Mitchell founded the Laboratory for Pathology Dynamics, which does research in predictive medicine and machine learning. Mitchell represents Team USA as a Paralympic Games medalist. Mitchell recently was awarded the American Neurological Association Outstanding Young Investigator Award and the National Science Foundation CAREER award.
